The Big Shanty Bassmasters was originally established in 1975 in Kennesaw, GA. It was one of the most well-known clubs in the Kennesaw / Marietta GA area. In the summer of 2012, due to declining membership because of the weakening economy, the club dissolved.
In the Spring of 2016, a few of the old members got together and decided to revive the club, with the main focus being on fun, fellowship, and more than just fishing. We are committed to getting our youth involved in the growing sport of bass fishing, being good conservationists in keeping our lakes and rivers pollution-free, and helping our fisheries thrive by being involved in fish habitat projects.

We also are very active in our community by giving back with our Toy Drive Benefit tournaments during the holiday season. For the past 10 years, we have hosted the annual Toys for Tots event on Allatoona and for the first time, in 2024, on Lake Lanier. For 2024 we helped the children of Hall and Pickens Counties have a Christmas who normally wouldn't have one . That was roughly 10,000 kids.

We also help out with families within our fishing community, who, for what ever reason are in need. This past year, long time club sponsor, Captain Chris Day former owner of TowBoatUS Lake Allatoona, lost his battle with Pancreatic cancer. He was survived by his wife Brianna and children including his new born baby boy of less then a year. Club members pitched in and we helped Brianna with purchasing toys and clothes for the kids for Christmas and a donation to her to help with expenses while she navigates these rough waves.

We are affiliated with B.A.S.S. and the Georgia B.A.S.S. Nation. This affiliation provides you, the grass roots fisherman, an avenue to the ultimate tournament, the B.A.S.S. Masters Classic.

If this sounds like a club you would like to be involved with, please come by and join us for a meeting and see if its a good fit for you. If you just want to fish to make a boat payment, move on.
